A sample of 102 subfertile patients who have undergone surgeries for varicocele is discussed. In 68 men (67 %) a clinically identificable varicocele has been found, confirmed by the Doppler ultrasonography In 34 men (33 %), a subclinical varicocele has been identified by means of Doppler ultrasonography. In 75 % patients with a clinical varicocele and in 81 patients with the subclinical varicocele, the laparoscopic sur-geries have improved the sperm density and motility. The difference in improvement between these two groups is not statistically significant.
The Doppler examination of scrotum is recommended for the subfertile male patients in order to prove the subclinical varicocele.
