Acute epidydimitis is one of the frequent diseases of lower urinary tract. Testalgia and unilateral painful scrotal oedema are common symptoms. Sometimes fever, micturition difficulties and urethral discharge are presented in the time of presentation. This disease occurs in males ranged from puberty to graet age.
Group of 83 patiens examined in our urological centre in 2000 - 2001 is presented. We consider careful clinical, microbiological and ultrasound examination as essential not only for differential diagnosis but also for therapy.
We have found two-peak median of incidence in patients with acute epidydimitis - 27 and 5G years of age.
Survey of most often pathogenetic agents in our group is presented. Their incidence depends mainly on the age and on the sexual practices.
At the beginning treatment is usually empiric and depends on feasible causative agent of the disease. Than we treat sexual partners on basis of microbiological examination or we search for the cause in urogenital tract disease by futher urological examination.
