Prostate cancer was the second most commonly reported malignant tumour after the pulmonary tumours in 1997 in Czech Republic; incidence of prostate cancer was 52.9/100 000 males in 1997. Bladder carcinoma was the sixth most common reported malignant disease in males with incidence 27/100 000 males in 1997.
164 cystoprostatectomies for diagnosis urinary bladder carcinoma were performed on the Department of Urology, University Hospital, hradec Králové in 1989 - 2000. Prostatic tissue was cut from the apex to the basis in transversal planes 5 mm each other. Adenocarcinoma was found in 23 (14.6%) cases of 157 evaluated samples. In any patient there were not detected distant metastases; only in 3 out of 23 (13%) cases were found regional lyphatic node metastases histologically. T2 category of tumours was most common and there were no T4 tumours. Almost 2/3 (60.9%) carcinomas were well differentiated. None of the patients has died of incidental prostate cancer. In 12 (52.2%) cases patient has died of progressive bladder carcinoma and 1 (4.3%) patient has died of stroke.
