In the period from September 1, 1997 to October 31, 1997 the effectiveness of Nifuratel (Macmiror tbl.) was tested on a group of 116 patients from 8 Departments of Urology in Czech republic. The drug was administered to patients with acute, uncomplicated uroinfection. The average patients age was 43,3 years, the diagnosis of acute cystitis prevailed in the absolute majority of cases, the atiologic agent was E.coli. 200 mg Nifuratel tebletes were administered to all the patients in the group according to the following dosage pattern: 1st day 3x2 tablets, next days: 3x1 tablet. The period of treatment was 5,5 days for all patients. The study evaluates the tera-peutic effectiveness findings, tolerance to the drug the risk of allergy and the pre-sence of side effects. The results of the clinical study confirmed the high effectiveness of nifuratel (Macmiror tbl.) in primary uncomplicated uroinfection. Effect has been evaluated as excelent by physician in 78 patients (67,2 %) and by patients in 72 (62,1 %) of them. Allergic reaction hasn't occured in any patient, in 2 patients (1,7 %) non significant gastrointestineal troubles, which were not reason for interruption of treatment, have been described.
