The authors give a report of their active approach to patients suffering from a serious affection of the urinary tract caused by tumours of gynaecological or colorectal origin.
They present a set of 16 patients suffering from gynaecological malignity and 6 patients suffering from rectosigmatic adenocarcinoma, who at the time of examination had no proved distant organ metastases. The patients' Karnoffski index ranged from 100 to 60. Their life expectancy exceeded six months. Due to the complete obstruction of pelvic sections of ureter or due to tumorous infiltration of the urinary bladder they were turned down to a permanent external urine drainage, which they intolerated.
Accordig to affection of urinary tract were indicated some types of urinary diversion (ileal conduit, ileal orthotopic neobladder, implanation of ureters in to colostoma, transureteroureteroanastomosis, prospectively bladder augmenation).
The patients were observed from 2 to 24 months. Subsequent oncological treatment was realized in 12 of them. Nine patients died in 8 - 14 months from the operation due to generalization of the disease. None of them died in connection with post-operation complication.
Active utilization of the opportunities of reconstruction urologic procedures in selected patients is emphasized.
