K. Mainer, J. Krhut
Urologické oddělení FNsP Ostrava

The authors report on complications associated with surgical correction of stress incontinence (SI) in women using the pubovaginal sling. During 40 months they used this method to operate 110 patients. They achieved improvement of SI symptoms in 108 patients (98%) and the satisfaction with the post-operation result in 98 patients (89%). As to non-serious complications, they reported urinary bladder perforation in four cases, urocystitis in eight cases, transient hyp e rco r re cti o n in 12 cases and tolerable urgencies in 36 cases, in this nine that occurred de novo. As to serious complications, they reported persisting stress incontinence in two cases and serious urgencies in 10 cases, in this three that occurred de novo. In three patients they had to indicate the sling discission due to permanent hypercorrection. In total they reported urgencies de novo in 12 patients (11%). Most complications could be solved well. The authors emphasize the need of careful diagnostics and indication for operation.
