Novák I, Kacerovský M, Dusilová‑Sulková S, Malý J. Pregnancy in patients post bowel segment bladder augmentation - our experience. Pregnancy is not contraindicated in women with severe congenital urogenital anomalies after lower urinary tract (LUT) reconstruction with bladder augmentation. Natural pregnancy is possible. Although the number of pregnant women after bladder augmentation surgery is increasing, there is sparse published information about this topic. We analyze 4 cases in our paper retrospectively from diverse points of view - urologists', nephrologists', gynecologists' and neonatologists'. The patients after LUT reconstruction require continuous follow-up care. Possible complications in pregnancy (e.g. preeclampsia, urinary tract infections, upper urinary tract obstruction, etc.) must be resolved immediately. Interdisciplinary cooperation for successful outcome of pregnancy is necessary. Pregnancy after LUT reconstruction does not appear to have a major effect on permanent impairment of renal functions and it does not lead to negative changes in the function of reconstructed LUT. The incidence of congenital developmental defects in babies of these pregnant women after LUT reconstruction is not higher compared to those of otherwise healthy pregnant women.
