Hoření E, Čermák M, Chmelík F, Heráček J, Kočárek J. Extraperitoneal robotic radical prostatectomy with bilateral sparing of neurovascular bundles. Introduction: Sparing of the neurovascular bundles is a standard part of radical prostatectomy in selected patients with prostate cancer. At our department we indicate a bilateral nerve-sparing procedure in patients with clinical stage T1c, PSA ≤ 10 ng/ml and Gleason score (GS) ≤ 6. Unilateral preservation of neurovascular bundles is performed in patients with GS score 7-8, biopsies with tumor on one side only and in nonapical location, with no perineural invasion or palpable disease. Selected...

Stejskal J, Jašková V, Pavličko A, Votrubová J, Matěj R, Záleský M, Zachoval R. MRI ultrasound fusion biopsy in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. A literature review of techniques, results and the current role of MRI/US fusion biopsy in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. The detection of prostate cancer still requires histological proof, usually obtained through prostate biopsy. While standard systematic biopsy has a low detection rate and carries a risk of serious adverse events, MRI ultrasound fusion biopsy technology offers to overcome these shortcommings. In recent years, many studies concerning magnetic resonance of the prostate were published,...

Pacigová D, Gaduš L, Heráček J, Čermák M, Kočárek J. Usage of indocyanine green in urological robotic surgery. Indocyanine green (ICG) is a fluorescent dye with a wide spectrum of usage in minimally invasive urological surgery, where intravenous application of ICG can be used for identificaton of perfusion and tissue density. This review summarizes development, contemporary trends and also the future possibilities of ICG usage in robotic urology. During robotic kidney resection application of ICG is used for differentiation between tumorous tissue and healthy renal parenchyma. Administration of ICG during robotic radical prostatectomy can improve identification...

Holub L, Hušek P, Košina J, Pacovský J, Broďák M. The impact of changing antimuscarinics on quality of live in patients with overactive bladder - results of the VEST trial. Primary Objective: The authors present the results of a multicentre, noninterventional, prospective, one-arm, observational study into the effect of solifenacin on the quality of life versus previous antimuscarinic treatment. Method: Satisfaction with treatment was measured by Perception of Treatment Satisfaction (TS-VAS), Over Active Bladder-q Short Form (OAB-q SF) and EuroQol Group scoring system (EQ-5D-5L) Results: A representative sample of the OAB population was evaluated in...

Záleský M, Stejskal J, Minárik I, Koldová M, Adamcová V, Votrubová J, Pavličko A, Babjuk M, Zachoval R. Comparison of detection of significant and insignificant carcinoma using systematic and targeted MRI/TRUS fusion prostate biopsy. Major statement: Detection of insignificant prostate cancer by systematic biopsy is significantly higher than by targeted MRI fusion biopsy. Targeted biopsy in combination with systematic biopsy reached significantly higher detection rate of clinically significant prostate cancer than systematic biopsy in the rebiopsy group. Introduction and objectives: Detection of insignificant cancer is one of the major problems of...

Mondor's disease is a rare type of thrombophlebitis affecting the superficial veins, mainly with fibroproduction. It is characterized by a palpable rigid and usually painful stripe affecting the vein. It is more common in females, where it is located mainly on the breast, it is a rare disease in men, when it is mainly present on the penis area. The aetiology of the disease is based on Virchow's triad (trauma of the vascular wall endothelium, blood stasis and hypercoagulable state). Aim: The aim of our work is to summerise our experience with diagnosis and treatment of patients in our out-patient department in the last three years. Patients and methods:...

Nekula M, Babjuk M, Chmelová R, Čechová M. A rare case of eosinophilic funiculitis. We report a case of a 28 year old patient examined for a 3 week history of palpable mass originating from his left spermatic cord. Due to unclear etiology we recommended surgical resection. Histopatological examination revealed an uncommon diagnosis of eosinophilic funiculitis. Eosinophilic funiculitis represents a benign condition of unknown etiology. To date only three cases have been descibed.
