Ces Urol 2018, 22(3):156-158
Balík M, Sotona O. Laparoscopic repair of parastomal hernia after laparoscopic radical cystectomy. Introduction: Radical cystectomy for invasive urothelial carcinoma is a challenging procedure associated with a high risk of perioperative as well as postoperative complications. Parastomal hernia tends to be rather rare, but all the more serious. The patient is at risk of upper urinary tract obstruction with renal insufficiency, development of obstructive pyelonephritis or impaired bowel passage. Methods: Early August 2014, a 66-year-old man underwent laparoscopy-assisted radical cystectomy with prophylactic appendectomy and extracorporeal Bricker conduit...

Transitional care of neurogenic bladder patient from adolescence to adulthood
Zdeněk Dítě
Ces Urol 2018, 22(3):159-163 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2018014
Dítě Z. Transitional care of neurogenic bladder patient from adolescence to adulthood. Children with congenital anomalies are now entering adulthood in larger numbers than previously. Neurogenic bladder (NB) patients represent one of the most frequent urological diseases in this group. They require continuous, longlife care focusing on successful transfer of the patient to the care of adult‑centered teams. They must be familiar with clinical problems of NB in all age groups and be able to ensure complex follow up. Well designed transitional care (TC) results in increased survival and more comfortable lives of these patients in adulthood.

Drlík M, Flögelová H, Dítě Z, Trachta J. Extended recommendation for management of paediatric enuresis. Enuresis, more specifically night-time intermittent urinary incontinence, is defined as urine leakage during sleep in children over 5 years of age. It is a very common problem affecting about 15 % of children aged 5 years, persisting in 2 % of the adult population. Recommendations for Diagnosis and Treatment of Children with Enuresis - are the result of the joint efforts of the Paediatric Urology Section of the Czech Urological Society and the Child Nephrology Working Group of the Czech Paediatric Society. The aim of the text is to provide...

Zachoval R, Krhut J, Krhovský M, Švihra J. Frequency of intermittent catheterization in patients with spinal cord lesion. Major statement: This comprehensive study of intermittent catheterization regimes in patients with spinal cord injury demonstrated that the majority of patients perform catheterization with a frequency of 6 times a day or more. No difference in frequency of catheterization was observed in different groups of patients divided according to the spinal cord lesion level or gender. Aim: The aim of the study was to obtain data about the basic aspects of intermittent catheterization regimes in patients with spinal cord lesions in the Czech...
Impact of stone density and size on the effect of flexible ureterorenoscopy with laser lithotripsy

Štrajtová I, Dančík P, Kuldan R. Impact of stone density and size on the effect of flexible ureterorenoscopy with laser lithotripsy. Introduction: Flexible ureterorenoscopy (URS) is an endoscopic method which allows visualization of the urinary tract into the kidney in a minimally invasive way. It also allows us to remove stones with using laser and extraction baskets. At present, the knowledge about the impact of stone density on the effect of laser lithotripsy is insufficient. Most previous work deals with a possible prediction of shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) success. Purpose: The aim of this work is to evaluate the possible influence of stone density...

Schraml J, Chodacká M, Broul M, Hokůvová P. Adenocarcinoma of sigmoid bladder augmentation. The authors report a case of a woman who, at the age of 21 years, underwent bladder augmentation using a detubularized segment of the sigmoid colon for recurrent ulcerative cystitis. The treatment was successful, the patient has lived a normal full life, including an uneventful pregnancy with a natural vaginal delivery. The patient had had no urological complaints until 54 years old when she sought urologic care for recurrent lower urinary tract infections. The examination revealed a tumour in the augmented part of the bladder. Although it was a poorly differentiated...
Splenogonadal fusion - rarity for pathologist and urologist

Tvrdíková E, Mazanec J, Plevová M, Čermák A, Sedmík J. Splenogonadal fusion - rarity for pathologist and urologist. Splenogonadal fusion (SGF) is a unique developmental malformation that results in the ectopic occurrence of spleen tissue in the gonad. 135 years have passed since its first mention, nonetheless the etiology remains unclear. By maintaining communication with the spleen via a ligament, we can differentiate between two types of SGF (continuous and discontinuous). Some of the cases are associated with the occurrence of cryptorchism. There is no typical clinical picture of this lesion and it can mimic a tumor of the testicle. Preoperative...
