Hes O, Hora M, Pitra T, Šedivcová M, Kolář J, Veselá A, Fiala O. New emerging entities: renal tumors described after WHO Classification 2016. Histopathological Classification of renal tumors is more complicated every year. New emerging entities are defined not only by morphology and immunohistochemical profile, but also more frequently using molecular genetic techniques. In this review, new perspective entities with clearly defined molecular‑genetic background are introduced. Groups of renal tumors sharing abnormalities in the mTOR pathway were recognized recently. It is eosinophilic solid and cystic renal cell carcinoma, high grade oncocytic...

Fišer L, Čermák M, Hyršl L, Kočárek J. Minimally invasive surgical methods for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia as an alternative to classic desobstructive procedures. Since 1885 and 1886, when Belfield and Dittel performed the first transvesical prostatectomy (TVPE) described in the literature, and since 1926, when Maximilian Stern performed the first transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), these techniques are considered the "gold standard" in surgical treatment of benign prostatic enlargement (BPH). Both surgical methods lead to a significant improvement in subjective, functional and laboratory results, namely a reduction in...

Horňák J, Veselý Š, Havlová K, Babjuk M. Prevention of recurrent cystitis with intravesical instillation of hyaluronic acid Flaveran®. Objectives: Our aim was to investigate the efficacy of Flaveran®, when treating recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and concomitant lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Methods: In a prospective non-randomised study, from 2018-2019, we included 7 patients aged 22 to 44 years. All were diagnosed with recurrent UTIs according to European Association of Urology (EAU) criteria, meaning three confirmed UTIs per year or two symptomatic UTIs in a span of six months. During a baseline examination they underwent...

In most cases, prostate carcinoma metastasizes into pelvic lymph nodes, and into skeleton; less frequently into lungs and liver. Testis metastasis is rare. The disease is usually unilateral and occurs by elderly males. Here we present a case history of a patient, where a prostate carcinoma metastasi-zing into a testis was one of the symptoms of the disease.

Ces Urol 2020, 24(3):217-220 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2020022
Štrajtová I, Kuldan R. Partial amputation of penis as a treatment for verrucous carcinoma. In this case report, we present a 72-year-old man examined in our workplace for phimosis with an incidental finding of penile verrucous carcinoma. This rare type of carcinoma is characterized primarily by exophytic and destructive growth and the risk of local recurrence after insufficient surgical removal of the lesion. After considering the degree of penile involvement and with respect to non-compliance of the patient, including his preferences, we chose partial penile amputation as the method of choice. After the surgery, the wound healed, and the patient is...
Arterio‑ureteral fistula - a rare cause of gross haematuria?

Žemličková B, Havlová K. Arterio-ureteral fistula - a rare cause of gross haematuria? Arterio-ureteral fistula is a rare life threatening cause of gross haematuria. The aim is to present two cases with this condition. Both cases presented with gross haematuria and had a history of vascular and pelvic surgery with radiotherapy and regular ureteral stent reinsertion. Even though it is a rare condition, it appears to be more frequent than we previously thought according to described cases in literature. Moreover its incidence can be expected to increase with aging population, extensive oncological treatment, improved cancer survival and thus higher risk...
