Two nine-years old children (girl and boy) with tumour of lower urinary tract were treated on children´s ward of The Department of Urology of The University Hospital in Hradec Králové.
Both cases were diagnosed as bladder tumour of transitory epithelium (papilloma). Boy was admited to the hospital with massive haematuria, girl was examined for abdominal pain. The tumour was found by sonography and diagnosis was confirmed by urethrocystoscopy followed by histological examination of biopsy. The resection of the tumour was a treatment. Both of them are followed-up. Girl is been disease-free for 5 years, boy for 6 months.
In spite of the fact, that upper urinary tract tumours are rare in the first decade it is necessary to think of them. Urethroscopy with biopsy and histological examination is decisive for the diagnosis. Epithelial tumours have a good prognosis, they do not recure. Marginal resection seems to be sufficent therapy. Pateints need to be followed-up for a long time.
