The authors evaluate restrospectively early urological complications in 304 kidney transplantations performed during the years 1995 - 2002. They offer general options for management of individual complications, which they afterwards specify as used methods of their transplantation centre are concerned.
The number of complications decreased with increasing experience of the surgical team. The most important urological complications were urinary fistulae (3.9 %) and obstruction of the ureterovesical anastomoses (2.6 %), which comprised 87% of all urological complications. Surgeons and urologists are present in the kidney transplantation team. The stable presence of urologists in the transplantation team decreases the number of urological complications significantly.
